when i was married.. my mom bought me a set of china.. Norataki .. we had a great little china shop not to far away.. it was a great place.. you could buy fine china by the plate or bowl or an entire set.. mine was $200 for a place setting for 12..
over the years.. i never hardly used it and one day talking to my mom i said "why am i saving this? she agreed and i have been using it for my every day for about 30 years.. even though the dishwasher it is still as pretty as the day i got it.. some plates are chipped ..
Mom had two sets dad brought back from Japan when he was in the army.. they were $50 each.. an entire set of 12.. she used one for every day and then saved the one for good.. last time she used it was at my shower.. soooo 40 years ago..
last night .. i was laying in bed... and decided i am goign to use her good china.. i am goign to throw away my chipped plates and when they are all gone i will use mom's china.. then pass it to my duaghter who can use it..
I thought about giving it to my nephew becasue my daughter didn't want good china.. and he is the 2nd born grandchild.. but he is not married.. and i am not going to do that...
My mother saved everythign for good.. my grandmother saved everythign for good.. i started the same thing and husband made me see the light.. and my daughter uses what she has ..
I know mom would be happy we are using it.. although it does say made in occupied japan.. but heck who would i sell it to anyhow?
