|A Good Day and a No Show|
January 22, 2008
Today was a really good day at work. I know sometimes I gripe about parents who don't supervise their kids, and who don't pick up after them. Well, today I have to say was the opposite. I had to leave the room to bring a wallet up to the circ desk that one of the fathers accidentally left in the Discovery Room, and when I got back to the room, the moms (and one grandpa) had the room practically spotless! And I hadn't said a thing, nor had I been cleaning up before I left the room.
I figure if I take the time to complain about the people who don't seem to care, then I should make at least equal (if not more) time to be grateful for those who do.
In the afternoon, some of my favorite moms and kids were in, so it was just an all around pleasant, enjoyable work day. I really am fortunate in that the majority of my work days are good ones. Not everyone can say that.
OH...and guess what?!? My STOOL has arrived! Laura unpacked it this afternoon (just as I was leaving). It's kind of low, but with an extra cushion it should be OK. I've been using a pillow from Karen's old sofa for the last few weeks to soften the edge of the art table. If I put it on the new stool, it should work.
I hurried home from work today because I had an appointment with (yet another) contractor for an estimate. The appointment was at 4:30. He never showed up. He never called, either. I waited till 5:30, then said "To hell with this", put on my pj's and got my dinner ready.
Guess he doesn't want the work.
I'm not such a hard ass that I won't give him another chance if he calls with a reasonable explanation as to why he didn't show up, or at least call. But I'm not holding my breath, either.
The two contractors who've been here so far have yet to give me estimates. I'm getting a very strong feeling that I am simply not meant to remodel my kitchen...at least not now. *shrugs* I got the new appliances anyway, and if the rest isn't meant to be, it isn't meant to be. I'm not going to make myself crazy over it.
Anyway, that's it for tonight. I'm outta here!
