|A Good Day For Soup Kind Of Day|
October 5, 2017
Not much going on today. I was going to prep the veggies for Mom to make soup, but Lois called this morning while I was outside with Nougat. We ended up chatting for 2 hours!! It was really nice. She's on vacation this week, and now that she'd done with her book, and has turned in her binder, she sounds so much more relaxed, and we were able to just sit and talk about whatever without feeling any time pressure. It was great.
Of course, it also meant I got absolutely nothing done. But I don't care. Mom made her soup. I was going to roast a spaghetti squash and some beets, but since we have other food already cooked, I decided they could wait. Tomorrow we get our farmbag, and we're getting acorn squash, so I'll just roast all the veggies at once. We're getting Anaheim peppers, too, and Mom got some poblanos at the market the other day, so I'll broil all of them at once. Maybe I'll make chiles rellenos over the weekend. We all like those. I can even make enough to freeze some. (assuming we have room in the freezer!)
Carol called this morning. Twice. The first time, I was just getting up. The second time, (less than 10 mins later), I was in the bathroom. She never left a message, so I don't feel obliged to call back. We end up talking at least twice a week, sometimes more if she's having a crisis (and when isn't she?). But really, I'd prefer to only talk once a week.
Can't believe it's 3:30 already. The day's just going by, and I'm letting it. I got Nougat brushed and combed. Watched "The Chew" and had some lunch (a radish sandwich and tomato soup.....hot this time, cause it's a cloudy, rainy, good-day-for-soup kind of day).
I called FL Blue to inquire about the status of the letter of medical necessity. The woman I spoke to had such a thick accent, I could barely understand her. She gave me the providers' phone number and said the dr has to call to ask about the status. Why would the patient need or want to know???
So, then I called the urologist's office. Nicole was gone for the day, so I left her a voicemail. And round and round we go again. FEH.
Now I've got a headache. (could be from the weather, or more likely from having to deal with this crap again. I'm so ready to say "to hell with it", and drop the whole thing.)
Nougat wants to go outside. I'm not sure if it's still raining or not. I'd rather not go out, but if she really needs to go, I'll take her. But I think she's just bored and looking for attention.
Last night she was so cute. She was playing with her Kong. She mainly likes to play with Mom, but if I ask "Can I play?", she'll scamper over with her toy and let me tug with her. I let her win, and she puts the toy right back in my hand so we can tug some more. Eventually, she lets me get it so I can throw it for her. She didn't know how to play when we first got her, and she doesn't play often or for very long, but it's fun when she does. When she was finished playing with us, she took her Kong, and lay down with it......right on top of one of my Crocs, with her chin resting on the shoe like it was a pillow. She's too damn cute.
