Connor went to the Dr. yesterday. Poor kid, he has an ear infection and asthma. Remember when he was born he had fluid in his lungs, but the Dr. (the same one) seems to think this is environmental. So, here we go. I jump on daughter about keeping the house clean (an on-going battle)giving the kitties the boot and the Dot not smoking in the house-EVER again. Oh jeeze!

He's never been sick before, just one little cold a few months ago. He has an inhaler. Wow, I've just never had to personally deal with this before. I mean I've had kids on the bus who have it and I know what to do when there's an attack. But, that doesn't make me feel any better.

Just for the record he now weighs 22.6 pounds and is 32 inches tall. His head is still 18 inches-across the board he is in the 50th percentile.

My grandmother fell a few days ago and had hip surgery yesterday. My Dad thinks she's not long for this world.

My step-mother's brother passed away. he was a Marine during Viet Nam. He had 4 kids and was a nice guy from what I remember. (I haven't seen or talked to him in over twenty-seven years)It's sad.

MB's granny was in the hospital while we were there. He has a peptic ulcer on top of all her other ailments. She probably doesn't have long left either.

Now that I've depressed myself, I should change the subject.

The Carnegie Natural History and Art Musuem was really cool. I spent a lot of time looking at dino remains and Egyptian artifacts. There's so much to see! There were some very cool art exhibits-a lot of it donated by the Carnegie heirs and other affluent Pittsburgh families.

We drove in through the University of Pittsburgh...OMG what a beautiful campus. In my dreams I attend a University like that. I took a brief peak at their website today. I wasn't on long enough to gleen any real information-maybe later when I have more time.

The parties were fun and it was good to see the family. I met the favorite cousin's wife and she is a hoot. I want to know her better. BTW, they go to the same church as Alton Brown! How cool is that?

I've been paying attention to pre-season football, and I was glued to the Olympic swimming. Seems likes there are a lot of hurt guys out there and the Favre/Phelps-fever has died down, for now.

Classes are good so far. I don't seem to be as busy as I was over the summer. I know it'll kick in soon and I have a couple of observation/teaching opportunities. The first is October 13-17. And the second is November 10-14 & 17-21. The week after is Thanksgiving Break.

I went back to work at the library today. Ann literally hadn't touched any of the document stuff. Boxes of docs have been sitting since May. I only get 10 hours a week there at $7.50 an hour. Couple that with my left over loan money and I'll be doing ok.

I made myself a budget which includes paying my car payments and insurance through January. Hopefully I can pay off the car with the Spring dispersement. That would be sweet. Rid of the Xhasbeen once and for all (read forever!)

I still have some stuff to do on the Oral History Project, so that will bring some extra ching as well. I just need to remember to pace myself, break projects into small pieces and not get behind or lazy.

One last thing, while in Pittsburgh I went to a Fashion Bug to look for a dress like one I have and I like a lot. While I was there I was told about their "right fit" jeans. OMG!!! They fit-perfectly! I guess 25,000 women were measured for proportions and they've developed this 'sytem' for pants that fit. I was so excited, after being really skeptical because I have a weird waist-to-hip ratio (read BIG ass). I am serious, I pulled those pants up, buttoned and zipped-NO problem. They fall right from the widest part of my hip to the floor and are laong enough for heels. (I watch What Not to Wear and I try faithfully to follow the rules) I know fit is more important than anything else, believe me, these just aren't just for big women-they have all sizes! Dress pants & jeans!! It's the company that owns Fashion Bug, Lane Bryant and Catherine's.

Now, who doesn't want pants that fit?
