It's Fat Tuesday...Mardi Gras and it's also International Self-love day. I've had nary a piece of either King Cake or chocolate. Sad! It's okay, there are other ways to celebrate, right?
I've managed to save up a tidy sum, and I am planning a trip in late April. I will be headed to Vegas for a conference, but I shall be stopping a couple days in Phoenix to see family I haven't seen since my grandmother passed away some time ago. I've begun dreaming of the desert and how I miss it so.
The swamp, as it is, is beginning to show signs of spring. It's been overcast for days, but the forsythia has blooms as does the camellia (even though she's a cold weather bloomer). The weather is a veritable rollercoaster. Cold, cool, warm, cool and back and forth until mid-April or so. But there are robins, cardinals, and crows about.
Yesterday, my 1:00 class was just apathetic. The other three classes really seemed to enjoy the day's activity/lesson on gender equality, but I don't know about this class. I had hoped it would gel by now, but it just isn't, and getting people to say anything is akin to getting congress to agree on anything these days. I took participation points yesterday, and I think a quiz is in order on Wednesday. I'm not sure what else to do. Hell, they barely talk to each other.
On another note, it looks like all of my classes will be on main campus next fall. It's incredibly early to tell right now, but this is good news. I should be able to participate in the activities often held in the quad. And while working on the satellite campus for half the day has its perks, I'll feel more connected.
Essay One came in yesterday, so I should prepare myself to get to the office and begin to grade them. And so it begins...
