After work today, I went to the grocery store across the street. I don't often go there as it has a limited selection and the prices are outrageous; however, I just wanted a couple of zucchini for the chicken and roasted veggies I was making for supper.
I grabbed the two best of the lot and headed to the checkout. The cashier picks them up, looks right at me, and says "What is this?"
"Zucchini," I reply. She mumbles something about her grandchildren which I completely ignore because I cannot believe she doesn't know what they are. How does someone make it to grandmotherhood and not know what a zucchini is, especially here where it grows prolifically?
Somehow I feel like I shouldn't be so judgemental; hell, I never ate broccoli until I was 15...but, I knew what it looked and still looks like.
Eat the rainbow...even zucchini,
