Today would have been my mother's 76th birthday. I may take myself to the department store for a few whiffs of White Shoulders. Its made by Estee Lauder, and it was her perfume. She never wore another kind, and since friends and family knew this, she often received it as a gift. I on the other hand, like more natural smells, but I do have a few favorites, the most being an essential oil blend called Wicked. I've no clue what's in it; nor do I care. I love it.
It's crazy what you miss about a person who has passed: her perfume, red and white polka dots, silver jewelry...
No more dogs in the yard, but we had a thunderstorm come through yesterday. EVERY year, the first really good lightning/ thunderstrike near the house scares the Bejeezus out of me. As in I nearly jump out of my skin. It's not like I didn't know it was coming, I heard the rumbles coming, but I guess when it hits so close to the house and is so loud, my primitive brain reacts: SEEK SHELTER NOW! It's like I have to get it out of my system or something. 'Tis the time of year, though.
I used to make fun of my boss, Dave for being so jumpy; this must be payback. When the kids lived at home nothing like this really phased me. Now, however, I guess my living arrangements are far more quiet than before.
I had weird dreams early this morning. I got up at pee around 2:30 and promptly went back to bed. The only one I can remember is going to see a Journey cover band called the Perrys wherein all the members looked like Steve Perry. I've heard some Journey songs on the radio for the past few days, and I always sing along because let's face it, who DOESN'T want to sing like Steve Perry? Musically speaking, it is generic 80s rock, but whatevs. I loved them then and will listen to them now. My favorite tune is "Wheel in the Sky."
It is very soggy and humid here; greetings from the swamp!
