| | ...home too soon?

While I was out last night, two of my three Hospice patients passed, I found out when I returned to work. For the one guy, I think it was a crime that he would not do the chemotherapy that would have curred his leukemia! Why he wanted to die at 57, I'll never understand. It was his choice, and, I hope he is happy with it. The other man was much older, and went really totally unexpectantly. I did not see that one coming for so soon.
The out of control thieving patient continued to distract me from any sorrow I may have felt. She's the one that now has the compulsion to take me by my wrist and to try to drag me through the hall ways when she finds she can not grab anything out my medication drawers. Last night, she had literally taken a locked med cart away from a Contingent Nurse-twice! I don't know, maybe she thinks that if I am away from the cart, she has a better chance at capturing it.
Another attention grabber is the woman who is trying to climb the wall while seated in the hallway, on her recliner. Eventually, she gave in to the sedatives.
But, that was not before The Cantakerous Old Man declared to all the visitors passing by the Nurses' Station that I am the Nurse who, '...does nothing!' They knowingly waved and smiled as they walked past. He looked embarrassed when one of the visitors overheard him telling me that he was going to get down onto the floor (from his wheelchair). That was when I brought him into the Nurses' Station and placed him at the messy Ward Clerk's desk. He complained, "What are you doing-this is too messy-look at all these papers-they need to be filed!" I asked him to put them in numerical order. That's when he decided that I needed to stay and to do it myself!
Once back on the other side of the counter, he told anyone that came up to the front desk not to talk to me, because I had a paper mess to get cleaned up! He did not threaten to flail himself onto the hallway floor for the remainder of the night.
Sometime, before day break I will decide on what to eat. What that has to do with what I'm writing about, I don't know...I don't know, maybe I came home too soon?
