|Defining Life with Music|
January 27, 2008
Over the past few days I went to only the second movie I've been able to enjoy in a theater since my surgeries and transplant. This is because the doctors don't want me in a place where someone, that might have an infection, could be sitting in close proximity to me for an extended period of time. I went, after assuring myself there would be very few people there at this specific time. (I was right, it was almost empty)
The movie I saw the other day was "August Rush" which is a movie about music .... an orphaned boy, who was the off spring of two world class musicians .... who becomes a "prodigy".
The movie itself is very good, but afterwards I thought about my own philosophy that music can define one's life. Someone has probably already written almost every chapter in your life to this point. Whether the chapter is about family or relationships you can probably find a song (or many) that defines that period or time in your life.
A couple of my personal examples -
Work - We Gotta Get Out of this Place, Animals
Birth of my son - Sweet Child of Mine, Guns.N.Roses
An early relationship - Do You Believe in Magic, Lovin Spoonful
What are some of yours?
One of these days I'm going to sit down and attempt to define my life, though music ........
