Preparing
September 5, 2008

Photobucket

The week has been a busy one ..... I've started preparations, or continued my quest for a couple of different things.

With the passing Labor Day weekend, the media always reminds us that summer is OVER. We're no longer supposed to pay attention to the 90+ degree temperatures, the brown lawns that crunch when you walk on them and the wilting plants. Regardless, I'm definitely old enough to know that at some point fall will arrive, followed quickly by winter. This past spring we bought all new deck furniture .... dining table and chairs, chaise lounge, glider, etc, etc ........ all in black, all in steel ~ all together = HEAVY. I also know my strength since my heart attack and subsequent organ transplant. I suppose that with a great deal of effort I could get everything in the overhead loft in the garage ...... but wouldn't it be easier to buy a storage shed and store them at ground level? Thus, I've started this undertaking ..... I'm through the planning and looking stages ....... I bought the lumber for the base and will start to put it together when the weather actually does start to cool down.

Next up is my quest to volunteer at my Transplant Center. I went to my Doctor the other day to get a required TB test, which they will read today. I also spoke twice with the lady that will train me in the areas where I will be visiting patients ......... that's all set up. When I first started to pursue the volunteer role, I thought it would be a simple phone call and off we go. But, it has been a very intense, very slow process ........ it so reminds me of my past career in the corporate world ...... thus I DO understand. Smile

The convertible has received a good workout this week ....... good choice as I prepare for winter, LOL.
