Cherish / Chaos

CHAOS ~

“Don’t run in the middle of chaos. Stand still & let the chaos run from you!”

~ T.D. Jakes

At times in our lives, we seem to be in the middle of chaos. Recently, multiple family events and other issues seem to have me surrounded in chaos. At times, it has been overwhelming for a period of time. Exhaustion sets in, my blood pressure rises and sleepless nights multiply all too rapidly.

Instead of running, I try to step back and even though the chaos doesn’t always run from me, as in the quote above. I can, for the most part, keep my emotions in check not just by standing still, or sitting (which is most likely) but by reflecting and praying for guidance, and to give thanks. I don’t always see the answer clearly ….. but I know I will. If I seek the answer, it will be given to me. Not always immediately …. but eventually.

The other day I had the opportunity to be able to take a tour of our local “Organ Procurement Organization” (Lifebanc), also known as a OPO. It is a beautiful office building. Not overtly large, but seemingly the exact size needed for their missions of matching donors to recipients, procuring organs and to educate the public on the benefits of organ transplantation. As I took the tour, I was invited into the 24/7, 365 days a year “call center”, where the calls come in when a registered organ donor is nearing his or her last breath …… the team of folks that answer the calls go into action working with the UNOS computer system for the exact match or matches of possibly multiple organs with perspective recipients, and once those potential recipients are determined they start their calls to the various transplant centers. One call in could generate 40, 50 or 60 other calls …….. as I stood there I pictured the CHAOS of it all …. not only just the “who” part, but also the how, what, when and where. (In my mind, God takes care of the “why” part).

I pictured the families on both ends of these calls, of this CHAOS ….. the extreme sorrow and grief of one family losing a loved one and the fearful, nervousness of the families whose loved ones are facing a life saving surgery.

This, the ultimate in chaos, seemed to make my problems a bit smaller and lot less significant. I need to remind myself more often of this quote ~

“From our perspective, the world looks like chaos. From God’s perspective, it’s all going according to schedule.” ~Max Lucado

Not only do I need to remember that, but I know how important our prayers are …..

“Prayer guards hearts and minds and causes God to bring peace out of chaos.” ~ Beth Moore

God will always answer your calls for help and …….. bring peace from chaos!
