|A Typical Day?|
July 23, 2003
The title about says it all. Nothing outrageous has happened to stick a knife in my guts or put me on the warpath. It's been quiet and routine, which is kind of nice for a change. It's giving my mind a chance to wander between the various tasks that I need to accomplish -- including some overdue ones.
I'm finding out that my creative side hasn't completely rolled over and died. While I haven't written anything other than this journal, I have some ideas percolating - - particularly with regards to the AD&D campaign that I wanted to start. I'm coming up with something that is going to force me to switch genre's fairly quickly and force me to be quick on my mental 'feet'. It's adding up to a quirky dark version of Sliders meets John Doe. I think it will hold for some interesting gaming sessions. I'm hoping to work out the details in the next few days, so we can get it cranking in either late August or early September.
But first things first. I'm supposed to join Satan's book club this weekend, and I haven't finished the bloody book! It' a very interesting, thought provoking read, but it is very dense compared to the fluff I usually read for entertainment. Not since college, have I tried to seriously read something while focusing on getting the most from it. I'm usually looking for a good story to distract me from reality for awhile. This book is in a whole different class and it's forcing me to snap some neurons back on line that have lain dormant for nearly a decade. It's a pleasant change and maybe it will be the first step for me to look at college again. Anyways, I think I am going to seclude myself from the household ruckus this evening, and see if I can put more of a dent in Reading Lolita in Tehran.
