April 24, 2013
Other than cleaning up a mess my father left for me, I haven't accomplished much today. I was up very late working on my transcription, which turned into a research and rewrite session because of some errors I made early on in NaNoWriMo. It also didn't help that I doped myself up to fight my allergies. I ended up sleeping all day, but I cannot write that off as a waste.
I had a series of rather funky dreams, including one where I was driving the Old Man's truck when it was struck by lightning. The vehicle shorted out and I was barely able to stop it before I lost consciousness. More strangeness occurred after that but the details have grown fuzzy. The other group of dreams were much more pleasant and left me wishing that they could come to pass. It had a much improved me -- healthier & in better shape, financially secure and settled into my career -- and I was pursuing someone from my past and doing my damnedest to regain their affections. I can't say things were going entirely bad, but I can't say that I was getting everything that I wanted from the situation. There were a lot of miles and time to be answered for and resolved. I know it was only a dream but it was a pleasant and unexpected one. I can enjoy it for the smiles and moments of satisfaction that it brought me.
I am going to stay up for a bit and muck around online then turn my focus towards working some more on my story transcription. I made the decision to adjust the name of my secondary female protagonist rather than cause some mayhem. The name I had chosen to begin with was both familiar and simultaneously exotic enough to be more than interesting, but I think it would have stirred up some issues better left where they are. Of course now, it leaves me with a wonderful line that I have to figure out how to save. A writer's work is never done...hopefully.
