Today was pretty much a day of rest. I woke up feeling pretty groggy and tired. I had breakfast with everyone (over easy eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. Getting spoiled not having to cook! and then got cleaned up. I retired to my bedroom and played on my tablet as well as read on my Kindle. At some point, I had a touch of headache then dozed off until my father woke me at 4 pm to go to dinner.
We went to a local restaurant, The Village Wheel in Bull Shoals, AR. My father and sister had liver & onions, while my uncle and I made due with the broasted chicken buffet with all the fixings including dessert. It was a great meal with family and conversation. I have to say that I am oddly enjoying the socializing. I guess I am changing a bit with age. From the restaurant, we took a scenic drive out towards Flippin, Arkansas (which is too funny!). We saw the Flippin School and Flippin Walmart, only missing the Flippin Police, which would have cracked me up. We headed back towards Mountain Home, swinging past the White River again in particular, Wildcat Shoals.
Wildcat Shoals is going to be important for me tomorrow. My uncle offered to take us trout fishing tomorrow. The White River has some of the best trout fishing in the country with brown trout, cutthroat trout and is also stocked with rainbow trout. My father declined, but I was all up for it. It haven't fished in years but it has been something I wanted to do. Plus, this is just another new experience and memory to sock away from this trip. I do wish my father would go along -- even if just to be out in the boat.
We are going to get me a three day license and trout permit tomorrow. My uncle has already set me up with a rod & reel. I just have to get my ass out of bed in the morning. I am really grateful for my uncle's offer and I am totally looking forward to it. The brownies and cutthroats will be released, but I am hoping that we pull in some rainbows so we can have a fish fry. Nothing better than a meal that you caught yourself. Of course, I will be happy to catch anything!
