The Wisdom of No Escape: And the Path of Loving-Kindness by pema chodron
good to read this kind of book once in awhile. her stories are illuminating. very approachable style.
thankful to be reading this book if only for the introduction to the practice of tonglen. never heard of this before. the opposite of what I have done for years---breathing IN what I want/need, breathing OUT what I want to let go... so it went like this...breathe in peace, tranquility, beauty, breathe out pain, stress, negativity...
tonglen is a more courageous practice where we deliberately take IN the suffering, accept it, gently allow it rather than resisting it, pushing it away. no, pull all that blackness IN on the in breath, then on the out breath, let go INTO THE WORLD the opposite of that..what we long to know, see in the world..peace, tranquility, relief from stress..let it go and flow outward all over all of us!
