|book 18, talk before sleep by elizabeth berg|

i finished this book yesterday. for one that started slow, it finished with a walloping punch to my heart. it, like one of the reviews i think mentions, is a book that tells you right up front how it will end, yet it still pulls it off with such sweet notes, uplifting, which is i guess a surprise of sorts. there's the scene in the bathtub, ann grieving, the details about the cemetery, the friends bowling.
it is a lovely piece of work. maybe therapy for ms berg, having experienced this loss in real life, knowing a circle of friends much like the one in the book. may her wish for the effort and result come true, may it call attention to this terrible, ravaging disease that goes on stealing so many lives from us far too soon.
