|Mother finds lost wallet, then distributes cash to her kids|
January 8, 2013
Joseph Smith had been shopping with his family at the Fayetteville, Georgia Kohl’s department store on a rainy day and was wrestling with a baby stroller when unbeknownst to him, his wallet fell out of the top part of the stroller. The next day he realized his wallet containing about $100 in cash & $200-$300 in gift cards was missing so he returned to Kohl’s in hopes of retrieving it. But instead he watched surveillance video that surprised him showing a woman picking up the wallet near the store entrance, and then handing out the wallet’s contents to her kids. Smith said, "What really gets me is I can see an adult doing it, it's just kind of the world we live in, but when you have your two kids with you…To set that kind of example, to say here not only is ok to pick it up but let's go through it, let's take what's in it, and then not even turn it in." Joseph Smith is in seminary school and his wife Lillie is a stay-at-home mom with their newborn baby boy so $100 is a financial hit. The two were hopeful when watching the video that the unidentified mother who found it would turn it into authorities, but that had not occurred. A few days later the Pike County Sheriff's Office said the wallet was returned containing all of its original contents.
