|Care Bears and Christmas Preparations|
December 4, 2002
Back in the 80's, when H and i were first married, Care Bears became popular. We both thought they were adorable, and so, i started buying them for him. Eventually, he had the entire original set of 3" jointed little rubber bears. i even bought him the Cloudmobile. We had them all set up on the bookcase.
They're now in the basement, in a box of old den stuff. We had fun collecting the little critters.
Today i got a "blast from the past" when i came across the "Which Care Bear Are You" quiz. i couldn't resist taking it.
You are everyone's ideal friend because you are sincere and genuinely kind. Sometimes you worry about your friends' problems so much, you forget about your own responsibilities, which can get you into trouble. For you, it's the little things that really count. You also happen to be the main driver of the Cloud Car. No speeding!
Btw, i would never be the main driver of ANY car!! i loathe driving! Granted, i love my MochaMobile, but the idea of being the chauffeur, and driving people around....UH UH...NO WAY!!
Didn't accomplish quite as much as i'd hoped to this afternoon. i did finish up my Christmas shopping. Ordered a holly plant for my godmother. One of the advantages of a small family...i only have to buy gifts for my parents, brother, husband, and godmother. My brother gets a gift certificate, my godmother gets flowers. That simplifies the shopping experience considerably. Mom and Dad are hard to buy for, since they have everything they could possibly need, but i did OK this year. H is sometimes difficult, since he seldom gives me any hints. But this year, he mentioned a couple of things, and i came up with a couple ideas of my own.
i used to buy for my 2 girlfriends' children (they each have 2), but once they were older, we stopped. So...i'm done done done!! All that's left are Christmas cards (again, i only send out about 2 dozen), and i'll tackle them this Friday afternoon, or over the weekend.
What little holiday baking i do (Grandma's ButterBalls, and Strufoli), i'll do (for tradition's sake) on the Saturday before Christmas. (after i go see Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers... )
So, i'm pretty well set for Christmas. Hopefully Karen will still bake cookies, and will give me a plate of them. i never bake sugar cookies, and since i don't really have anyone to give cookies away too, it seems unnecessary to bake a whole lot. i'll share some of the strufoli with her, if she wants.
The Library Christmas party is next Friday. i don't think i'm going to go. H obviously won't be able to go with me, he works till 9pm, and the party is after closing...6:30-8:30. It's not a bad party, as work parties go....i just don't know as i really want to go by myself. i know the other ladies from the Discovery Room will be there (including Pauline, who usually brings her granddaughters), but, *shrugs*....i dunno. i just don't feel like it. But who knows, maybe i will by next Friday. i can always whip up a batch of Lust Puffs to take at the last minute.
Or i can stay home and wrap presents, listen to Christmas music, and be with Barsky.
