|Does This Really Need a Title??|
July 4, 2004
Looks like we're going to be getting some thunderstorms shortly (hopefully after i get this posted.
Right now, i can smell someone's barbecue wafting through the den window.
I've just come inside (to beat the rain), but i've spent most of the day sitting outside in my oh-so-very comfy canvas camp chair (that i bought for $6 at Linens-n-Things).
First thing this morning, of course, i went to Karen's for coffee....and to work on our L.I.L.A.C. tee shirts. Which, if i do say so myself, came out looking pretty damn sharp!
I came home around 10, and waited for H to get his ass out of bed (which he finally did around 11), so that i could go over to the JCC. As i suspected, it wasn't crowded at all. I got on the weight machines, and then spent an hour in the pool! i'd only intended to stay a half hour or 40 mins, but got into a friendly conversation with a 70-year old woman (who, btw, didn't look her age). Towards the end, we were joined by Ann, age 50. I still got a bit of a work out in...treading water in the deep end.
I got home shortly after 1:30. We had planned to go to Friendly's to eat, but the Mets-Yankee game was on and H didn't want to miss it. I (very graciously, i thought) offered to make him hot dogs instead of going out. He (not so graciously) accepted.
I had some salmon left over from last night. I thought it turned out really delicious (i found a great 4-ingredient marinade/glaze for it on the web). When i asked H what he thought of it, he said "It's OK".
Fine, let his girlfriend cook for him then. Usually, when i go away, i leave him all kinds of meals prepared. Fuck that shit. He doesn't appreciate it, so why bother?? There are cooked chicken legs, and a meatloaf in the freezer, and 3 dozen hot dogs. He can buy fast food, or order pizza. I'm not going to bust my ass to make sure he's fed.
After lunch, i called Mom and sat outside while we talked for a while.
When the game ended, H came out, too. We sat and read until it started clouding up. Now he's out running an errand, and hoping to beat the rain.
Later, i'm going to phone Lois, and try to finalize plans for next weekend.
I get such a kick out of talking to Mom, cause she sounds so excited that i'm coming down. i hope she won't be disappointed that Lois and Karen come, too. Well, she and i will still have plenty of time alone, so i think it'll work out just fine.
When Karen and i were buying the 4 tee shirts (we had 4 coupons, and the clerk made us go through the checkout line twice each), we told the clerk what the shirts were for, and she wanted to come, too!
Anyway, it's been a real quiet 4th...and if the predicted thunderstorms come, the only fireworks we'll be hearing will be Nature's! Fine by me.
Hope everyone had a great holiday!
