|Quote Du Jour // Almost Done|
July 6, 2004
Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them - every day begin the task anew.
-- St. Francis De Sales
The roofers are finally done....except they STILL have to come back tomorrrow, to pick up the rest of the extra materials, and fix the light they broke. They're not getting paid, either, until it IS fixed, and everything is tidy again. Can't say as I think much of them....took them almost a week to complete what should have been a two day job.
The landscapers are also almost done! They might be able to finish up tomorrow, depending on whether or not it rains. Mostly what they have left is the detail work: cutting stones to fit the odd corners, etc.
I came home from work today, and the entire circle around the lamppost was done!! i'd say 90% of the work is done....and i think it looks spectacular!
Originally, I'd thought of putting in big pots of plants, but now, I think the less we put, the better. The stones themselves are so nice, and the pattern so eyecatching, it doesn't need much in the way of 'embellishment'.
My little concrete mushroom will fit right by the garage, and Jiminy Cricket MUST go by the front door. I'm still trying to talk H into the dragon statue I really liked. Now, I'm leaning more toward the one with his wings outstretched, rather than the coiled one....but I think it'll be harder to convince H for that one!
If he won't go for a dragon at all, maybe a reproduction of "Winged Victory"?? (I saw the original at the Louvre)
There was also a neat bench I saw in the same catalog, that was held by gargoyles. That one's a "gotta have". And I think that will about do it. Keep it simple, keep it classy, keep it just a little unique....
Today was a busy, busy day at work. There was a clown at 11am....and it was insanely busy all morning. 157 people between 10 and 2. Sheesh.
Oh, and Pauliine came by to say that something's come up, (a court date pertaining to her son's divorce), and she has to go, and can't work for me next Thurs. She didn't know what to do. I told her to talk to Tonia. I figure, I did my part, and covered my shift...it's HER shift now, so let her and Tonia work it out. I don't think i should need to find a replacement for my replacement!
Got home from work (and was able to park in the garage..what a novel idea!), and then H and i went to the JCC. I spent 45 mins in the pool, just walking in the deep end. Very refreshing, but as it usually does, i get home, and am very relaxed and sleepy.
Talked to Karen on the phone after dinner, and then Lois called for a few minutes, too.
After i post this, i'll go play with Panache, and then head to bed. Tomorrow i need to clean the kitchen and bathroom, run a load of wash, probably run the dishwasher, too, go to the gym, and finish packing.
I'm really excited about our weekend...can't wait!!
