|On The Mend|
January 12, 2012
The good news is I am feeling significantly better. The bad news is I am still coughing (though not quite as frequently), and while the pain in my ears is gone, the congestion isn't (it feels like my ear is stuffed with cotton). I have a little more energy than I've had, though I wouldn't say I'm ready for the Ironman Triathlon (not that I ever will be!). I probably could push myself to go to work tomorrow, but decided not to risk a relapse. It isn't worth it. It's been a long time since I've taken an entire week off work because of illness. I'm not sure I took that much time off even when I had cellulitis and was in the hospital for a few days. Anyway, I've already called in for tomorrow.
I got up at 7:45 this morning at Panache's insistence (she had to 'go'). Went back to bed at 9 and watched a movie on my portable DVD player. It's great having that little thing. Since it's right by the bed, I don't need my glasses to see the screen. I don't like wearing my glasses in bed. It's not comfortable, and I'm afraid I'll bend or break them.
Yesterday afternoon, when I wanted to take a nap, I put "Les Miz", in the DVD player. I don't have to actually watch it, since I've seen it so many times, and enjoyed listening to the music while I dozed.
This morning, after (and during) the movie, I dozed a little, and got up at 12:15. I've been up ever since, and it's now 3pm. I've been on the phone with Mom and then with Carol for a good part of the afternoon, and then I threw on my coat and shoes and drove to the mailbox at the end of the neighbor's driveway. It's too wet and raw out to walk "all that way"...so yes, I drove to pick up the mail (which I hadn't picked up since Monday).
Turns out I needn't have bothered. There were only two pieces of mail in the mailbox....both junk mail. Here it is Thurs, I haven't picked up the mail since Monday...and all I had for 3 days' worth of mail was 2 pieces of junk?! What a waste.
Anyway, I'm getting sick and tired of writing about being sick and tired. I'll bet you're getting tired of reading about it, too. Well, I am on the mend. Tomorrow, I plan to change the sheets and do the laundry. That'll be a change of pace. Oh, and shower, too. Definitely shower. (Clean sheets, clean me....that should make me feel a whole better, too)
We have a winter weather advisory out for tomorrow. It's just as well I chose to stay home.
Well, I've been up for awhile, and I'm starting to feel chilled and tired. Think it's time to go lie down.
