Are You SURE It's October?!
October 25, 2012

I think I may have killed my coffeemaker. I made a pot of coffee last night, and forgot to turn the machine off. When I got up this morning, there was coffee all over the counter and on my nice clean kitchen floor.

The machine had turned itself off (or committed suicide). The only thing I can think is that it was on so long that the heat melted the waterproof seal and let the coffee leak out of the pot.

I cleaned up the mess (great way to start the day....NOT!), and proceeded to get ready for work. A little while later, I go to have breakfast, and I notice more coffee has leaked out of the pot onto the counter. I poured what was left of the coffee into a Tupperware pitcher and stuck it in the fridge. I'll have to test out the coffee pot and see if it's still usable or not. *sigh*

The rest of the day was less eventful. Work was understandably quiet. It was 81 today!!!! No one in their right mind wanted to be inside.

I sat outside with Panache when I got home from work. And after dinner, I sat outside again for a little while (till it started getting dark, and Panache decided she was hungry and wanted to come in to eat).

While I sat outside after dinner, I unwrapped most of a bag of Hershey Kisses so I can make Witch Hat cookies for Saturday's tea party. I may make them tonight, after I empty the dishwasher.

Tomorrow will be a busy day for me. Georgette is coming in the morning to bring food for the tea party. Patti is supposed to come by "sometime" (who knows when) with the mugs and some serving pieces.

I've got to make the egg salad, the pumpkin cheesecakes, the cookies (unless I do them tonight), AND get the tables set. Which brings carrying the folding table upstairs from the basement, and getting the folding chairs in from the garage (and wiping them down, no doubt). I've also got to get all the serving plates and stuff ready. And get the water glasses out of the cupboard (which means using the stepstool). I've also got food in the downstairs freezer I have to bring upstairs to defrost (except the scones...they'll stay in the upstairs freezer till Sat)

Of course, I'll want to give the living room one more quick vacuum before I set up the tables. Oh, and before I can set up the table, I have to move the coffee table, end table, and my recliner back against the wall.

Details, details!

But I'm really looking forward to Saturday's tea party. I think it's going to go well. I feel pretty well organized and on top of things. We'll see how long that feeling lasts!! LOL

I am very glad I took tomorrow off. I would not feel this calm and ready to go if I had to work tomorrow.
