|Taking Myself To Breakfast|
September 16, 2015
I had a coupon for a free breakfast sandwich at Starbuck's. I wanted to take advantage of it. It was only good today and tomorrow, and Thurs is usually our grocery day, plus Brother is off tomorrow and Mom wants him to take her to MediQuik for her flu shot, so I decided today was the day.
It was wonderful to sit there, nibbling on a double smoked bacon, egg and cheese sandwich (they were out of the bacon and gouda one), sipping a cappuccino, reading the Reader's Digest, and not having to converse with anyone, or get up to go out with the dog, or do anything but enjoy my own company.
The only disruption was the annoying jazz music they were playing. Try as I might, I simply don't care for jazz. My brother and Mom love it.....but it gets on my nerves something fierce, and gives me a headache. I managed to tune it out for the most part this morning, but I would have preferred no music at all.
Came home and watched last night's "Face Off" on demand. It was on last night, but I slept through 90% of it. Never saw who won and who went home.
Then Mom and I watched "The Chew". I wasn't that impressed by the shows last week (the first of the season), but this week's been a little better.
After that, Mom and I came in my room, and spent an hour or so shopping at Walmart.com. If you order at least $50 worth, you get free shipping. It was almost TOO easy to get over $50 (we spent over $100....and didn't even get everything on the list!) I think it's great, though.....cause now we don't have to go to Walmart, don't have to load up a cart, drag it through the store, lug it to the car, bring it home, and lug it into the house. And we don't have to waste half a day doing all that, either! Sure, it took an hour or so to order....but we were sitting in our housedresses, comfortably in our home.....not fighting for a parking space, or jostling around other shoppers, and walking miles and miles from one end of the store to the other! It made shopping at Walmart almost enjoyable....rather than the hellish ordeal of actually GOING to Walmart.
We were just about finished, had our cart all loaded and were ready to check out, when Tim called. We chatted for about an hour, and then I came and finished my shopping. How nice to be able to take a break like that!
Now everything is ordered (and will be here by next Wed, which isn't bad at all).
I'm going to go start dinner in a few minutes. Brother's working till 6, which means he'll be home for dinner....but not till almost 7. That's a little later than Mom and I usually eat when it's just the 2 of us, but it's nice to all eat together when we can. I'll feed Nougat beforehand, though, cause she doesn't understand waiting that long for her dinner. (and she'll have treats when we eat, too).
