Nougat had her grooming appointment this morning. Olga showed up around 11:30. Nougat ran and cowered on the couch. Olga went and got her. First she dragged her off the couch by her leash, which I didn't care for at all. then she picked her up to carry her to the van.
Mom stopped her and asked her to please not shave Nougat.
"I have to shave her to get the mats out. She's a mess. She needs combing every day."
(For the record, I DO comb her every day, as best I can.)
Mom told Olga so, and added that the knots could be cut with scissors, which is what she (Mom) used to do with her 3 previous cocker spaniels, but we can't do it ourselves, which is why hired her, and again asked her not to shave Nougat.
Olga's response shocked all 3 of us. "You maybe can find some else then", she said, putting Nougat down on the floor. And then she walked out! We were flabbergasted. Was it so unreasonable to ask her not to shave the dog?
So, I brushed and combed Nougat as well as I could. Now we have to find a new groomer. I prefer one that will come here cause I don't like leaving her. She really needs a bath and a real, professional grooming. Wish the guy I had for Panache was available........But I doubt he'd want to drive this far. 😛
This afternoon, Mom and I went grocery shopping. Now I know why we never go on Friday afternoons. It was bedlam. Maybe some of it was Super Bowl party shopping, but not all of it. We wouldn't have gone, but they had ham on sale for 99¢/lb while supplies last, and we were afraid they'd run out and not give rainchecks. We got the last one in the meat case, so I guess it's good we braved the madness and went.
Mom wants to invite Louie over for dinner after we go to the funeral parlor for our final goodbyes. He's not having calling hours, it'll just be us, Louie, and his wife if she comes. Ellie will be cremated, and there will be a Mass for her, probably next week. Mom's waiting to hear from Louie with deatails.
On our way home from Publix, we detoured to find my new primary Dr's office. I got a letter from FL Blue yesterday confirming the change.
When we go to get our hair cut, the hairdresser's street number is 17. The Portuguese bakery we like is on the same street, one driveway down, at number 25. Further down, at number 33 is the lab I go to for blood work.
So, you would assume that since the Dr's office address is number 28, it would be located between the bakery and the lab. And you would be........wrong. It is on the opposite side of the same street, and in the *opposite* direction!! It is located just past the end of the street we live on , behind the Dollar General, whose address (equally inexplicably) is number 20. And you wonder why I hate driving around here.
After getting the groceries put away, taking Nougat out, coming in, having dinner, and doing the dishes, I threw in the laundry (I changed my sheets this morning, after I combed Nougat) and took a shower. Now I'm ready to call it a day, kick back and watch "Jeopardy". Today's been crazy.
