Today is my "divorciversary". I've been divorced for 12 years. Half the number of years I was married. Overall, I've been happier these last 12 years than I was any time in the 24 years I was married. Not that I didn't have some struggles, and not everything was smooth sailing, but I feel better about life without him than I did with him. And that's that.
Did a little cooking this morning. .sauteed the mushrooms we bought the other day. Then used some of them along with some onion, banana peppers (from the farm), roasted red peppers, and four kinds of cheese and made a frittata. It was impossible to flip, so I ended up kind of scrambling it. I decided to call it a "deconstructed" frittata. Sounds "chef-ier" that way. 😛 Then I prepped and cooked the huge pile of wax beans from the farm.
After everything was cooked, put away, the dishes done and the kitchen cleaned up, I brushed Nougat. My knee has been really hurting the last few days. Today I could barely hobble. I took some Tylenol, rubbed on some Tiger Balm, and even used my cane. I don't usually use it in the house, but I felt unsteady and in enough pain that I felt it was warranted.
I decided to take it easy this afternoon, so I watched a movie on my kindle. It was an Indian film called "Padmaavat". It's set in the 14th century. The sets, costumes, and jewelry were absolutely dazzling. I imagine on a big screen it would've been even more so. The story was good, too. There were even musical numbers (Which I understand is not uncommon in Indian films). My only complaint is that the ending was a bit drawn out. It was already a 2 1/2 hour movie. Once I knew what the main character was going to do, I wished she'd get on with it. But it's a minor quibble.
By the time the movie was over, it was supper time. Now that's done, dishes are done, Nougat's been out. Now we're watching TV. The PBS channel is running a pledge drive (aka "whining for dollars"), and as part of the drive, they're showing a program of Perry Como's music. The music is fine, but oh how I dread those endless pledge breaks!
Don't know what I'll do after this. Maybe find another movie on amazon if there's nothing on TV other than a Hallmark movie.I
We're under a severe thunderstorm warning till 8. It was a nice, albeit hot, day today. Mom noticed I moved the thermostat down a degree. She didn't move it up though, thank goodness. I wouldn't mind sneaking it down more, but I'm not pushing my luck.
Nougat was funny last night. She caught some kind of tree frog or something. It was a toad. Those are fat, brownish and look like turds. This was little (No bigger than my index finger). I couldn't tell what color it was (it was dark out), but it sure could hop!! She was having so much fun. It would take a huge leap, she'd chase it, pick it up in her mouth, and bring it back where she wanted. She'd put it down, then lay down and watch till it jumped again. After about a half hour, she gave up and I got her in.
Just got the "Code Red" phone call, letting us know we're under a severe thunderstorm warning. I happened to catch the weather report a little while ago, but I'm glad they call, in case we haven't been watching the weather. I can see the clouds massing in the west, so I guess I'll get this posted and better keep my recliner down, too......just in case the power goes out (you never know).
