|A Non Entry // Compliment|
June 18, 2018
I have nothing much to write about. It's not out......But it's been hot, and will control be hot until Novt. Hardly worth repeating it every day. Today at least, it's not humid and there's a (hot) breeze.
Today was Nougat's last year treatment. We take her in Thurs for a deep cleaning, and then Tues for another test to make sure they're clear.
Father's Day was uneventful. Not surprising, since we have no one to celebrate it for. Hard to believe the last Father's Day I spent with my dad was 10 years ago. It was the first one I'd spent with him in many years. It would also be his last. I'm grateful we got to spend it together. Mom and I made paella and tried to make it a special day for him. It's a good memory, but still makes me sad 😢.I
Tim called this morning. We only get to talk every few weeks, and usually not for very long. I'm glad we get to talk at all.
Had a nice conversation with Lois last Thurs while she was driving up to NY. (She has a hands free feature in her car). I told her she could call again on her way home this Fri. I'll get to hear what's going on with Karen, since she never calls, and I'm disinclined to chase her down.
Well, dinner is done. The dishes are done. And so is this entry.
Was sitting outside with Nougat after dinner, and Paul came over hearing a handful of fresh oregano from his garden. We started chatting, with Molly and Nougat barking away. Poor Nougat is still unsuccessfully trying to get Molly to play. Molly, the little stinker, teases Nougat. She runs up to the fence, then back to Paul. When Nougat finally loses interest in her and wanders off, Molly starts barking to get her attention and get her worked up again.
As we were talking, we saw Toni out in her yard. She saw us and came over to join the conversation. Toni complimented me on my haircut, said it looked great. Then she said, "so does your makeup."
I told her I don't wear makeup. "You have beautiful skin then". I told her my "secret": apricot facial scrub from the Dollar Tree. Seriously. That's all I do. Two or three times a week. No fancy, expensive creams or regimes.
It must be working. It's the second time in a month that someone has commented on my (non existent) makeup and complimented my skin. It made me feel good, too. I don't get many compliments on my physical appearance.
