|Ocean Breezes and Buttered Coffee|
July 18, 2018
It's 9 am. I've been outside with Nougat since 6:30. I got her in briefly around 8:30 so I could pooper scoop. Mom fed her breakfast and then came out with her so I could go pee. While I was in the house, I took my meds, had some leftover quiche for breakfast, and nuked a cup.of coffee. Then I came back out, and now the 3 of us are sitting outside.
The weather this morning is splendid. At 6:30 it was mostly cloudy and cool. The sun is out now, and it's going to be getting steamy and hot. But for now, it's still pleasant in the shade. There was/is a gorgeous breeze blowing in from the east, which means it's coming in off the ocean. I can smell the sea. I love that smell.
I always wanted to live by the sea, preferably right by the shore. Didn't get quite that close, but being close enough to smell it (at least when the wind is blowing in the right direction) is good. It makes me happy. I'm a water person. Love to be near, on, or in the water. Don't know if that comes from being a Scorpio (water sign), or what, but water (even our lake, which is more like a big pond) just satisfies and fills my soul.
Now, about that buttered coffee. No, I did not put butter in it. I put heavy cream and milk. But the carton of cream, while perfectly sweet and fresh, is lumpy. I think it must have gotten frozen at some point, and some of it turned to butter. It was this way when we bought it, so it wasn't our fridge. Anyway, when I heated the coffee, the little lumpy bits of milk fat melted, and I had what looked like drops of melted butter floating on top of the coffee. Looked funny, but tasted fine.
Don't have any plans for today. Was considering doing some filing and maybe (but not likely) dusting my bedroom. A nap is definitely in order this afternoon since I was up so early and didn't go back to bed while Nougat had breakfast like I usually do.
But for now, she and I are both content to be outside.
Brother is making dinner tonight, and we haven't filled the dishwasher yet, so I won't have to wash the dishes. So today looks like a nice, lazy sort of day. A little reading, a little napping, some TV (possibly coinciding with the napping). Brushing Nougat, of course. I'd say that's the makings of a pretty fine day, especially when accompanied by that ocean breeze. 😎
