|Having a Bit of a Grump|
July 31, 2018
It's raining. What a surprise. (Not!) It rained earlier this afternoon, too. A double dose of storms today.
Finally listened to the CD I wanted to hear. Played it on the cheap little CD clock tadio, laid in bed to listen. Not the greatest sound quality, but it sufficed. I just wanted to hear the CD, wasn't in the mood to boot up the computer and futz around trying to upload and download.....I *have* the CD, it shouldn't have to be so damn complicated just to *listen* to it!
I miss my good stereo receiver, CD changer, and speakers. I miss being able to crank up my choice of music, too. Ear buds are fine, but sometimes I want to **feel** it, kwim?
The rain has let up, but here comes the thunder. Every day, like clockwork.
Mom's scrolling through the TV channels, trying to find something to watch. We're rather disappointed with the choices. I've noticed that HGTV and the other diy channels have changed their focus. There used to be lots of design and decorating shows, like "Sensible Chic" and others. Now everything seems to be about house flipping. There are probably a half dozen "flipping" shows. And if they're not flipping them, they're renovating or rehabbing them. Meh.
And what's with all the grey? We watched a couple of "Love It Or List It" episodes yesterday, and I swear Every. Single. Room was painted some shade of grey. Kitchen. Bedroom. Living room. Bathroom. Didn't matter. Grey, grey, grey. And it's not just that show, either.
I worked at a call center once where everything was grey. It was the most **depressing** place I ever worked. We had no windows, sat in carrels with high sides so we couldn't even chat with each other between calls. Horrible place. Dreadful. Can't imagine living in a house with every room painted grey. I didn't like living in n apartment where everything was off white, either, but that's at least more cheerful than *grey*.
My apologies to anyone who really likes grey rooms. To each their own. It's just not for me. I like brighter colors.
Mom has settled on the Ed Sullivan show. But it's a compilation of clips from a bunch of different shows. All from different years. Makes no sense. Why not just show a whole episode? *shakes head*
I think I'll go back to reading my book. It's better than TV.
