It is cold. The boiler in our building is broken and being replaced with a new one. My loft stays about 40 or so. I like sleeping in a cold room but the shower was a real challenge. Last night I put a space heater in the bathroom area and it was so nice to be warm after I got out of the shower.........I am too old for this crap.
I love living in old buildings. The whole loft/industrial thing really appeals to me. I like big open spaces with high ceilings. Down side is if you're not wealthy and build out the place yourself you end up being at the mercy of landlords that may or may not maintain the building well. In my case the maintenance was not done. Now that the building has been taken back by the bank they are making the needed repairs and doing them correctly.
I will have to take a walk down to the square and see the tree they are putting up for Christmas. I wonder when the politically correct crazies will try to take the Christmas out of Christmas tree. I say Merry Christmas, I mail Christmas cards, I celebrate the holiday and know it's origins are pagan. The difference is I celebrate it as a religious holiday with the chance to spread good will to everyone. If someone says Happy Hanuka to me I am just as happy as if they said Merry Christmas. It is the idea not the name that I love so much. So for me it is Merry Christmas and I will never give that up no matter how many religious/non-religious cry babies stomp their little feet and shake their little fists.
I do not put up anything Christmas until after Thanksgiving. I really don't like to see the stores trying to drag out the holiday buying season like the basketball season. It will be year round in a few years at this pace. I also don't like seeing people having to work on the holiday just so they stores can cash in on an extended selling season. Emergency workers have to for the benefit of all of us and they know that but Walmart????? Come on. Let these people have the holiday to spend with their families. That is what it is for.
