Diet Talk? October 23, 2020
I saw the dietician yesterday and she has three things for me to aim for...
1 - To walk at least 10 miles a week, or about 1.43 miles a day. And she'd prefer that I walk at a moderate or brisk pace for most of my walks.
2 - To hopefully be somewhere under 250 before I turn 50. Something about reducing my risk of getting diabetes.
3 - To cut carbs from dinner. She would prefer little to no carbs at dinner time, but she says I can wean myself off them over the course of whatever time it takes (I can't remember the exact time she said).
While 1 and 2 sound easy to tackle, number 3 sounds difficult. While we do eat the occasional meat, we mostly eat vegetables... which are made of carbohydrates. I hope she just means starchy vegetables or simple carbs, as those might be easier to reduce. We'll see.
One thing she said that kinda stuck was, "we aren't meant to just sit on carbs." I can't remember what she meant by that, so I'll have to do some research.
Oh, and I'm to schedule my meals and snacks, as grazing/erratic eating could lead to problems. I think she might've said diabetes but I can't remember. So, that'll be another hurdle to face.
Overall, she seemed happy that I already knew some stuff (I told her that I love to read) and that my plans sounded solid. She also said that I did not look as heavy as my scale say (which is close to the scale at my doctor's). I will probably check back with her in a month or maybe after the holidays.
