|stuff, where to put it, what to take, what to leave|
June 25, 2012
we picked up the view on thurs as planned. so we've been living on wheels for 4 nights now. the good news is we are still married.
we dropped off bo's car to ba on sat in mega city, mega traffic, mega people and escaped without accident. phew! made me understand the book Blue Highways in an all new way. clearly we're in a slower lane now and on highways with fewer lanes til we gain more confidence.
we had a surprise reunion with my youngest nephew who happened to be at ba's when we arrived. this is the nephew of the occupier mindset, vagabond, living on the streets from portland to maine. skinny as a rail but happy. he's awaiting a passport to peru. his friend has family there and they will visit them together for a few months, leaving in sept. it was good to see him again.
we've had our share of ups/downs/trials/errors/stresses and some moments of intense joy and happiness. i'll update with pics soon. still working out the kinks. always a trying process.
we are back in our old city in a nice campground on a quiet lake. we'll be here a few days so we can put some things back in the storage unit, take some things out. we put the bed over the cab into storage yesterday which really opens up the interior of the view quite a bit. today we'll wrestle with cargo netting across that now empty space to see if we can configure some kind of secure storage, essential component for that supply of winter wear we need to pack up there before we head north.
tropical storm debby is kind of delaying our travel plans as she is impacting quite specifically the exact area we wanted to drive thru en route to see ch and z.
incidentally, ch and z have been digging in their new back yard for a garden and shed. they have, in the process, discovered some bones of something prehistoric. two bones which connect at the joint together are as long as ch!! they documented this by stretching them out on the grass and ch lying down beside them. looks like in the pics she sent they have a few "experts" in tow as well, on the site, examining the details. she's promised updates but i don't have any more info than that at the moment. pretty amazing tho!
