Looking for my daughter's fb page, specifically an article she had shared tthere, I found nothing. Her page gone. So when she called this morning so we could play with e on the camera phone I asked about it. And following her advice I too deactivated my account there. I find I just need a break. And there are always so many articles I get pulled onto reading or threads of discussion that even if I don't participate in, nevertheless they pull me down. And they suck up my time! It seems I don't have the self discipline to choose a book or exercise or cooking or meditating instead of frittering away another 15 minutes here or there throughout the day scrolling on fb. So I'm deactivated for a break. I find I need more time and I think this is one way to find some.
Yesterday I cleaned and cooked.it was pretty chilly for pickleball here especially early in the morning when my regular group likes to gather. So I made eggless walnut waffles for a treat for c and I, then a good dose of dusting, vacuuming and mopping, followed by lentil soup combining 2 new recipes, beets, Thai peanut butter dressing and a big salad. It was warming comfort food and in a cleaned and straightened up house with the most sensitive plants nestled by the big south facing Windows it was nice afterwards to read another chapter in How Not to Die and then more of Nomadland. The Viking game was a big disappointment particularly knowing how hard the fans there will take it. They have enough to deal with this winter...they could have really used a super bowl to warm them up a bit.
Today I met a new Dr. It went well. She even agreed to monitor my thyroid needs and seemed willing to go with the least medical option for screenings, medication, etc. My bp was 132/78 which compared to the last reading at the fire station was down by 25 points! Don't know if their machine is off, but I'll take today's reading! Having read yesterday that 140 is considered "hypertensive" i was prepared with arguments just in case. Also, about 40 minutes prior to the visit i drank about a cup of beet juice as dr greger's book recommended. No idea, as i said, why exactly for the numbers, but very happy not to have to pull out all my arguments against ANY quick prescriptions for blood pressure meds. I'm really looking forward to the blood tests to see how my new way of eating is impacting my formerly high cholesterol.
And now c says he's ready for a walk. That is good since we missed a walk yesterday. One of tge many reasons we miss Abby so much...she made sure we got 2 walks at least every day and watching her enjoy them so much always made us come home wagging our tails too.
