I have always believed in ghosts.
I mean, in a world of space travel, medical miracles and Geraldo Rivera, there has to be something more than this...right?
In our old house, we had a ghost I called Will. He was very active when I lived with the freak. Doors opened and slammed. Electronics turned on and off. Drawers in the kitchen opened and shut. Once, he shattered a mirror on the back of our front door.
When the freak moved out, Will got a lot quieter with very little to no activity for years and years until we started getting packed to move.
Now that we're moved in over in our new house, I'm not surprised to have a ghostly roomie again.
It's actually not news.
When my mom lived here, she often told us about how her glider chair would rock by itself and how there were noises and from time to time, she'd catch a glimpse of something slightly human shaped out of the corner of her eye.
Because I'm open to it, and probably because I'm looking for it a little, we've noticed a few things going on around here.
Nothing huge that makes you think, "WTF!", but just enough to make me suspicious that we're not exactly alone in here.
Clearly, our new roomie really wants to make it known that we're house-sharing because the new trick is to open either the freezer or fridge door.
Now, I know what you're thinking...that the seal is bad or that the cats are opening it or whatever...and I would accept that answer...except the seal is solid and we've installed baby(cat)proofing on the door. This means that the cats have the dexterity to flip a switch on the lock on the side of the door before they can open the doors.
Ummm....I don't think they have that kind of skills.
At the other house, at the height of the ghostly issues, I walked through the house and explained to Will that I didn't mind sharing the house with him and wasn't going to ask him to leave, but he had to be a bit more respectful. I'm thinking I may have to do that here as well. I know it sounds incredibly stupid, but it worked.
In the meantime...I'll be duct-taping the doors of the fridge and freezer...hopefully our new roomie doesn't have the skills to pick super sticky tape off the side of the fridge too.
Love until later,
