|Riding the storm out|
September 6, 2008
Just as I had predicted (well listened closely) Hanna, blew over the top of us. Wind gusts out here were 4-5 mph compared to the 40-42 winds at the coast.
It started raining hard about 2PM yesterday and went til about 5, then it tapered off and started back up about 9:30 and continued til long after I went to bed. MB said the front yard looked like a lake, but now (nearly 1PM) there's no sign of flooding and the sun is shining. We've got just a bit of breeze, it actually looks nice out there.
Daughter and Connor are here. The came to weather the storm, but actually on Monday Connor has a follow-up appt with the Doc and Daughter has one on Wed. In the interim, she is to fix all of her papers with DSS, look for a job and a place to live. She's left the Dot.
Thank God and all the powers that be. I know this isn't going to be easy for any of us and I know she'll need me to lean on for a while, but she had to get the baby out of that apt. and she had to get away from Dot. She really hit him a few days ago during an arguement. She says she doesn't like who she is when she is with him. I say it's long past time to have moved on. But I really tried to keep my mouth shut and let her move at her own pace.
More on this later...
