|the Monday that was|
January 28, 2014
Yesterday was a really weird day. After my eight o'clock class I had planned on going to the gym, but I found out my office was flooded. On either end of a two-story building are suits of U shaped offices. Mine is on on the northwest leg of the U. A water pipe burst in between the arms of the U. My office didn't get it so bag...soggy carpet and such, but the ones in the middle are bad.
I didn't have anything on the floor save a space heater, but that's not a big deal. Some people had books, files, boxes and papers on the floor. I cannot imagine losing such valuable documents. A cleaning crew was there, and of course, we got booted out of our offices. Admin emailed everyone and rerouted some classes. Apparently, our computers and phones don't work.
I camped out in the library between classes and went to the gym after lunch. Why I decided to wear a cute pair of wedges with my outfit is beyond me; I walked a lot yesterday. I didn't end up eating lunch until 2:30.
Okay...add to that this winter storm which is barreling our way. Somewhere around 5 the phone rang and it was Connor's school saying it had been cancelled. It was 52 degrees out. A little while later I got an email from the college saying our classes had been cancelled. Here it is 1:36 EST and we've just seen some very light rain. Where is this monster storm we have coming? I think it might have been better for us to have an early dismissal. Hindsight you know.
It is supposed to get worse as the day goes on, but we'll see. Northerners, please don't give us Southerners a hard time-it'll take us a very long time to move the snow with our plastic shovels. Seriously, our county does not have the equipment to deal with ice and snow. We're holed up here in the house waiting to ride it out. If it comes.
I wanted to work out with Bob this morning for ChantFit, but that did not happen. I'm bummed about it; I was looking forward to him kicking my ass.
My period came yesterday too. So...yeah, I was exhausted when I got home. Daughter was in her own little world, and Connor wanted to 'play' baseball. I throw a tennis ball to him and he tries to hit it. He LOVES this game, so I played with him until it got dark. I got a splinter which hurt like a mo-fo.
But today, we're okay-candles and bbq grill at the ready.
